In considering DX, the materials on toko-ten's DX and PW Singer's "War with Robot Soldiers" (although a bit old) were particularly suggestive.

The war with robot soldiers was especially interesting, as it wrote about the changing aspects of the military organization as the usefulness of drones became apparent. Amazon.co.jp: War with Robot Soldiers: P.W. Singer, Yukari Kobayashi: Books
With the adoption of automatic machines, the number of soldiers may decrease and the organization may become flatter (although many people are still needed to maintain occupation).
